Winter is coming!

WINTER IS COMING

And with it comes, cold mornings, waking up in the dark, and the dreaded flu.
So why do we need to keep exercising during the cold?

Finding that motivation to get up early or go out after you get home from work can be hard as the darkness and cooler temperatures start to kick in! So why should we? Why is it so important that we keep our habits as the seasons change?
As the cool comes in we subconsciously start to eat more food, an adaptation from when the cold meant food shortages, so we need to keep moving to burn those extra calories we consume, especially as there is nothing like a hot chocolate on a cold winters day. Now is also the time if you are aiming for a ‘summer body’ to start working, not 2 weeks before summer starts. ‘Summer bodies are made in Winter!’

The dreaded cold or flu is more common and easily spread during these months, especially in a work environment or with young children. Exercising and keeping healthy will boost your immune system and helps your body fight infection more effectively, so if you do get it, you can beat it faster.
By exercising outside you are getting more sunshine to help beat those winter blues and ensuring you are receiving adequate Vitamin D supplies. By exercising you release endorphins that make you feel happier and less stressed. SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder is a type of depression that is related to the changes in seasons, generally your symptoms start in autumn and continue through the winter, it saps your energy and you are more likely to feel moody. Your daily workout releases feel-good, de-stress brain chemicals and helps give you a break from the daily grind and can help easy depression.SO GET UP AND GET MOVING! DONT HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON! Remember, no matter how slow you’re going you are still lapping everyone on the couch and in bed. Go LEGENDS!
