5 – Simple Mindset Practices to Start Your Day!
- I am, I choose, I believe.
With the I am, I choose, I believe exercise, you make statements like “I am becoming…, I choose to do…, I believe I can….
You need to do at least five for each and you need to write them down.
The simple act of listing the things you’re grateful for will brighten your day.
- I’m the type of person who…
Write down 10 things that describe the person you want to be, not the person you think you are now.
- Journal about how you want your life to be.
Write down how you want your life to be. How you feel, what you eat, what you look like, who’s with you…everything you can think of. Do this every day, and you’ll find yourself gravitating towards activities that will make it happen.
- Write down your intention for the day.
You might call it a goal but personally, I find I’m a little more serious about getting it done if I call it an intention. This is usually just one thing, that’s an absolute must.

60 Seconds with Member of The Month for October Dave & Grace
What is your biggest achievement?
Dave – For me the new people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve gained through Fit Stuff have been fantastic. Personally – I once weighed 132kg and Fit Stuff has played a big part in both losing and keeping off the weight. Along my journey I completed the half marathon at the Gold Coast which was great but never again!!
Gracie – Beating Dad in the races that Nicci gets us to do on a Tuesday afternoon
What makes you laugh?
Dave – Lots of things – Louise and the girls, Cathy & Jen giving me a hard time at bootcamp, Brooklyn 99 – I’m a huge believer that smiling and laughing makes you a healthier person so try to do it as often as possible
Gracie – Nathan’s corny jokes
Who inspires you?
Dave – I’m surrounded by women in my family (apart from 1 brother) and they all inspire me. I love that they are so focussed on our family group and making sure everyone has love and support whenever they need it.
Gracie – Mum and Dad. I want to be a basketballer when I grow up, just like Dad. I always want to be funny just like Mum.
What’s your favourite meal?
Dave – Gracie makes a mean green chicken curry – it’s a weekly dish at our place and delicious every time!!
Gracie – Christmas Dinner – Ham, prawns, potato salad, green salad
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Dave – At the moment I’d make it rain in Australia – other than that I’d love our society to be free of bullying of all types, it has a terrible effect on those involved and robs our society of so many good people
Gracie – I want to buy houses for my Mum and Dad’s side of the family so that they could be closer to us.
What’s your most embarrassing workout moment?
Dave – First time I trained with Fit Stuff Nathan had us running in the harnesses and I got the strap wrapped around my legs, some say I looked like a Dinosaur falling over but I’m sure it was a graceful landing!!

Any additional comments regarding Fit Stuff?
5.30am starts, even when it’s windy, dark and cold, are bearable because of the people you’re there with. There’s no judgement at Fit Stuff, everyone knows that everyone there is trying their best to improve their health and lifestyle. Nathan and Nicci take a real interest in all members and it really is appreciated.
So it’s nearly time for me to take on my next challenge. In just over a week I will be heading down to Bright in Victoria to take on the Spartan 50+ Ultra. This race involves 50+ kms of running and approx 120 obstacles.
As some of you know I attempted this last year but ended up with a DNF (did not finish) due to some miscommunication around the rules for cut off. I think you could let a situation like this beat you or learn from it realize that some things are out of your control, learn from it and become stronger. This year I will be running it with a beautiful friend and we hope to get it completed in 12hrs.
People often ask me why I do these endurance events. I believe until you have get out of your comfort zone, physically and mentally you never really know what you are capable of. I know I live my life being the strongest person in body and mind because of my experiences.
So try it guys If you want to take on a challenge a 5km fun run a marathon a Triathlon or an obstacle race, whatever it might be, go for it.
If you have a dream of changing careers, go for it.
If you want to do a course to up skill and better your career, go for it.
Anything you want to do in this life you can do with the dream, the goal and the hard work to achieve that goal and turn your dreams into reality.
Remember things don’t always happen straight away but with persistence and believing in yourself it will happen.
Also having a strong encouraging group of like minded people around you that lift you up anything is possible.

Fit Stuff Testimonial – Dane Crawford
I completed the Ultimate 8 Challenge jointly run by Fit Stuff and Elite Performance Gym last January. During this challenge my fitness increased dramatically. I also learned how to eat much cleaner and healthier. My mindset towards health and fitness has also changed. Now I am keen to keep up and even improve my fitness more. I now enjoy training and it has been great to meet so many great people, trainers and clients alike. The trainers are really helpful and happy to support each person while giving advice where needed. They have proven to show a genuine interest in the health and well being of the clients.
I have never done group training before and was a bit apprehensive starting the challenge but found everyone was so friendly and supportive that once I got going it was a great environment to train in.
Nate shows his commitment to the clients by improving his knowledge and then sharing it where needed. Nate encouraged me to join the challenge and explained it would be the beginning of a great journey of health improvement for me which has proven to be the case. I have learnt and am still learning from Nate so much about how to improve my body, health, fitness and positive mindset, as well as cooking and eating clean and healthy. There is always plenty of useful information posted on Fit Stuffs social media sites to encourage everyone to try different things and gain more knowledge and understanding for your health and well being.
My mindset before beginning this experience was all geared to work and I was running my body into the ground. Not enough rest, eating bad food and not leaving time for things I enjoy doing. This was a trend that I kept promising myself I was going to change soon and get my body healthy again, I never kept that promise to myself until Nate really encouraged me to finally make a change.
Now I’m loving my active lifestyle and feel amazing for it. My performance in my hobbies such as Mountain bike riding and indoor rock climbing has excelled exponentially now that I’m fitter and fuelling my body with delicious wholesome food!

Nutrition Tip – Eat foods that boost your immune system?
If you think citrus fruits have the most vitamin C of any fruit or vegetable, think again. Ounce for ounce, red bell peppers contain twice as much vitamin C as citrus. When it comes to preventing and fighting off colds, vitamin E tends to take a backseat to vitamin C. However, vitamin E is key to a healthy immune system.
