Fit Stuff December News

Nicci and I are both extremely excited to introduce you all to our ethos, rebrand and story behind our 2020 projection for Fit Stuff.

Fit Stuff has always been a family friendly atmosphere promoting and encouraging health and fitness in the Redlands. We love you! Our members and friends have shaped and created the positive energy everyone experiences each time they attend.

Lifestyle, mindset, movement and longevity are the four pillars that now shape and support the Fit Stuff brand. These four pillars have organically evolved into our ethos through personal experiences that have allowed us to adapt, overcome and grow.

LIFESTYLE: Enhance your quality of life and unlock your potential!

MINDSET: Live consciously and openminded for mental strength!

MOVEMENT: Power, strength and mobility create the ultimate you!

LONGEVITY: Measure your health through ability not through your age!

  1. If weight loss is your current goal, set a goal to maintain your current weight during the holidays. Weight loss can continue once the hustle and bustle of the holidays is done, and when daily structure to your life has returned. Use this time to relax and enjoy family and friends.

  1. Maintain physical activity up to Christmas Day. Have an end date to your workout plan that will keep you committed to your workouts right up to when holidays kick into high gear. Confirm and make note of when your new program starts back up in the New Year. Speak with us, your coaches and create some accountability and even have us contact you if this will help. Our job is to keep you all committed and motivated, especially at the busiest time of the year.

  1. Plan ahead! Plan ahead for the week and ask yourself: how many parties/work lunches/gathers/potlucks are you attending? The more party commitments you have, the more important it becomes to maintain your activity level, if not increase it. Do the holiday parties fall during your lunch time workout? Your evening fitness class? Try to plan ahead for this and move your workouts around to maintain your activity level for that busy week.

  1. Maintain your nutrition plan. There is no need to fall away from your typical grocery shop, meal prep and meals during the holidays. Remember the main goal is healthy, balanced nutritious meals that provide your body the fuel it needs to function.

  1. Bring your own dish!Potlucks are a great opportunity to ensure there is a main item you know is healthy and in line with your nutrition goals. It is also a great opportunity to share a recipe with family and friends.

  1. Take dessert home. The dessert table can seem to have a magnetic pull that keeps bringing you back, and before you know it you’ve had more than your fill of those sweet treats. My tip is to leave dessert until you’re ready to leave the party. Choose whatever you want and take it home and enjoy it. This removes the temptation, and ability to go back for more.

  1. Use the convenience of at home workouts. The holidays are busy, and sometimes it can be hard to make it to your fitness class, or to the gym. This doesn’t mean you should go without a workout though! Contact Nicci or Nate who will both be offering PT sessions either at your place, park or our own homes through this period.

  1. Choose a smaller plate. Starting with a smaller plate helps to ensure appropriate portion sizes. Also be sure to include your greens! Find the vegetables and add them to your plate. Starting with a simple salad, and then moving onto the main meal works too. Remember that the holidays are a time to enjoy friends, family AND food. Taking part in the preparation of the meals and treats that are shared is an opportunity to create meaningful memories. Happy holidays!!

What is your biggest achievement?

First thing that comes to mind to say would be my 3 kids. But on a personal level getting back to a level of mental strength and physical fitness where I was able to find my passion again and to get back in the water surfing again after 15 years. Love what you do and love it to death!

What makes you laugh?

The kids make me laugh and their constant antics to get out of doing simple things but also life in general

Who inspires you?

The love and support I received from my family and friends

What’s your favourite meal?

The old me would say hot chips but the new me would say roast vegetables

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

The use of single use plastic packaging!

What’s your most embarrassing workout moment?

Not with Fit Stuff, but a few years earlier I split my pants at the gym and had to go home and basically only wearing my undies.

Any additional comments regarding Fit Stuff?

I can’t say enough about the support Nate, Nicci and all of the Fit Stuff crew provide to all of us. Such a great community of awesome like minded people.

Nicci’s News

Hi crew,

This pic is of me when I crossed the line after my Spartan 50+Ultra and had my beautiful friend hand me my medal really special moment for me. My weekend in Bright was a successful one .I managed to get my endurance trifecta weekend done. Saturday was the Super and Sprint races and Sunday was my big Ultra 50+ and 60+ obstacles. So over the weekend I covered over 70+ kms and loads of obstacles.
Being able to set a goal and achieve it is a feeling like no other.

As we head towards the end of the year I want you to start thinking about where you are heading and start to plan some goals for 2020. The only person that can make the year amazing and everything you want it to be is you. I am already putting my goals and events down on paper to plan it all out. Believe in yourself and what you are capable of.

Nate and I are here to help you achieve whatever it is that you decide 2020 holds in store for you.

As we wrap up 2019 I just want to say a big thank you to everyone for an amazing year. You all give every session everything and I  just love being your trainer.
Bring on 2020, lots of tough sessions but lots of laughs and good times too.

Thankyou Fit Stuff family for being so amazing

Cheers Nate and Nicci
